Beaufort’s annual Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Monday, May 27th, 2024 at 10:00 am.
The parade will follow the traditional route along Boundary Street from Adventure Street, onto Carteret Street, Bay Street and then to Bladen Street ending at the Beaufort National Cemetery.
The parade, organized by Beaufort County Veterans Affairs in partnership with the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, will be followed by a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Beaufort National Cemetery.
Memorial Day is for honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military fighting for our liberty and freedom.
It’s not a day for celebrating. It’s a day for remembering.
Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.
All are encouraged to come to Beaufort’s Memorial Day parade and ceremony and honor those that have fallen for our Country.
Lineup of all groups, floats and individual participants begins at 9 a.m.Every community group, children’s group, civic organization, and community member is encouraged to participate in memory of all veterans who died serving our country. In case of inclement weather, the parade will be canceled.

Memorial Day Ceremony at Buckwalter Place Park
Monday, May 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.:Â All are welcome for a solemn Memorial Day ceremony honoring all military men and women who have given their lives in defense of America. The ceremony will culminate in raising the American Flag from half-staff to full-staff at noon. The event will be outside in front of the Bluffton Police Headquarters off Buckwalter Parkway. Tents will provide some shade, but space undercover is limited. Also, bring a chair. Admission: Free.
Hilton Head Freedom 5k
The race begins at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, May 27th, 2024, at Coggins Point Road in Port Royal Plantation.
Shelter Cove Memorial Day Ceremony
Monday, May 27th, 2024, from 9:30 am till 10:30 am at the Shelter Cover Veterans Memorial.
